6 Skills You Must Learn in 2022 As A Freelancer

1. Know That You Know Nothing

It’s one thing to have some faith in your abilities and capabilities. However, assuming you know it all and are superior to everyone else could be the end of your career.

Never make the assumption or pretend to be an expert on anything. Always be willing to learn, especially if it’s from someone who isn’t in your position.

This is the key to staying relevant as a freelancer and obtaining additional experience.
so, continue learning new topics through online courses, about things that are important to the sectors in which you work.

This will keep you always one step ahead of your competition.

2. Forget About The Money

Most people start freelancing thinking that getting an office job is hard but making money from home is as easy as pressing the keys on a keyboard.

I always say that freelancing is more difficult than having an office job. Because freelancing is like running a business. You manage your own clients and juggle projects. You also have to promote yourself and services as well.

If you start freelancing thinking of money as your main goal, you won’t survive long.

In the first few months as a freelancer, you’ll only earn a very small amount of money. You need to be prepared to survive these harsh times.

If you’re struggling financially, get a job. Save enough money to survive at least 6 months. And then think about starting freelancing.

So forget about the money for a moment. Think about ways to provide value in your services. And come up with ways to deliver an amazing experience to your clients.

And guess what, the money will then come flowing right at you.

3. Find A Mentor

Having someone to guide you through difficult times and help you figure out how to advance your career can be very helpful.

Find yourself a mentor. If you can hire someone to coach and mentor you, go right ahead. It’ll be worth it. If you can’t, then look for a few heroes and role models to emulate and learn from.

4. Start A Side-Project

One of the most effective ways to enhance your freelance work is to start a side project.

It’s a great way to not just promote your skills but also to build your reputation and get experience in your field.

Plus, it also helped make an extra income stream as well.
It’s always nice to earn a little money from your own side projects.

5. Keep An Address Book

Every company has a list of potential clients’ phone numbers and addresses in their address book. This applies to freelancers as well.

Every time you get an email from someone asking about your services and even when you complete a project for a client, add that client’s email address to your address book.

This is a backup plan. If you’re looking for a new gig or you’ve ran out of client tasks, look through your address list for ideas.

Start making your own address book of clients. You’ll never have to complain about finding freelancing jobs ever again.

6. Presentations

If you have effective presentation skills, this means you are good at communicating. By speaking clearly, and getting your ideas and message across to people well, there will be less miscommunication in your life. This means less stress and happier relationships in your freelance career.
